Three people became friends by texting comments on the website.
One of them lives in the Netherlands. In the second half of the 16th century, Spain tried to brutally subdue the Netherlands and force them to live by their own rules. Millions were documented to die as heretics, others starved. Holland did not give up. So it gained independence. The first friend believes that among his ancestors were merchants whom the Japanese allowed to stay. He believes that it was the faith of the Dutch that made this business possible: in business you need to accept any rules and keep communication.
The second of his friends is Japanese. Closing Japan to foreigners was the idea of Tokugawa, who ruled Japan at the time. The main reason for this was Japan’s reluctance to use Christian ideas. The second friend believes that his ancestors were representatives of the Tokugawa shogunate. He thinks that the way to independence is to remain ourselves, even if it means breaking ties with others.
The third friend is an American citizen. In the 19th century, Japan stopped isolationism when the Americans, led by US Navy Squadron Commander Matthew Perry, landed on its shore and convinced the Japanese to sign trade agreements. The third friend thinks that his ancestors were representatives of the ship teams from that expedition. He believes that in any association with people you need to look for opportunities to earn money and so get independence.
